With over 30 years of experience as an audiologist, Mr. Kozelsky
is now engaged in a freestanding Private Practice in Audiology with
concentration on hearing aid dispensing. He began his working career
as a technical illustrator while attending college, and received
his B.S. in the social sciences in 1964 from LeMoyne College in
Syracuse. He completed his Master of Science degree in Speech Pathology
and Audiology at Syracuse University in 1968 and continued on for
additional graduate work being received as a PhD Candidate and is
now on inactive status. He joined the staff of the Rochester Hearing
and Speech Center in 1970 where he served as Director of Audiology
for 14 years. During his time there he was instrumental in the establishment
of one of the first agency-based hearing aid dispensing programs
in New York State. Longstanding professional interests have included
indicators of hearing aid candidacy in the elderly and evaluation
of clinical outcomes. He has also been credited with the purchase
of the first non-research Auditory Brainstem Unit sold in the US
and the development of one of the larger audiology nursing home
programs in New York State.
Other early interests included long term tympanometric findings
in pre-school and young school age children. He established a trial
telephone assistive device center and an assistive device demonstration
center. He is also credited with having put together one "of
the best exhibits of assistive devices ever brought together for
the hearing impaired anywhere [in the world]," and established
a full service hearing and hearing aid service program for senior
citizen nutrition centers which has received state and national
and international recognitions.
He is author or co-author of over 40 professional papers, presentations
and articles. He has served as an officer, chair or committee member
(some for several years), of 17 offices and committees for the various
professional organizations of which he has been a member. including
the prestigious Ad Hoc Committee for Audiologic Affairs of the New
York State Speech-Language-Hearing Association. He is currently
serving as member of a "Select Peer Review Group" for
the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
